Being a court reporter is much harder than most would
think. Most people think of them as “the
person typing on the weird looking keyboard.”
Although it is a challenging thing to learn, and master, I enjoy
it. I also look forward to being able
to make good money and set my own hours.
I do well working with people, as I have many years of
experience working in sales and customer service. I believe this will help me in this field
because, even though a lot of time is spent listening to others, and taking
down word for word what was said, you also have to “sell yourself” to make
people want to work with you in the future, such as attorneys and judges. I believe I have excellent organizational
skills, and grammar which is also necessary in this field.
I hope to freelance, and then with more experience; possibly
provide captioning services to be able to work from home.
